Sadly but not surprisingly, we lost the championships. I am honestly not surprised given the fact that our “leaders”/team captains were not focused the entire game, but were rather just having fun and socializing the whole time like it wasn’t a big deal. It was their last game as college athletes! How the heck could they not even take that seriously??? Honestly, I am SO upset and so ready for them to get out of here. There needs to be a big change around here to fix the team’s morale and work ethic- especially because our coaches leave it up to our captains to deal with team conflict. We have been ranked number one for 10 years, and our streak has finally been broken because of their lack of commitment. I can’t let this team run into the ground after more than 15 years of practicing soccer and choosing to commit to this university because of their success. Us younger girls were really bummed at the end; my friend Jess even cried. I never want to feel that way again.
My coach said we’re going to find out who the team captains are at the end of the season banquet. I really hope he chooses me. I have been to every single practice on time, I work hard, and my teammates respect me because of it. I’ll update you guys when I know!
