I can’t believe I am already a sophomore and have nearly completed my second season of soccer on this team. I thought I would be enjoying this a lot more than I actually am. This is the last game I am going to play with the seniors, and I am extremely relieved. They have been the worst role models ever and are going to run this team into the ground. Throughout the season, the seniors, our team captains, barely made it to practice, and we suffered because of it. They would always show up late, hungover, or just never show up at all. It has affected our performance and morale of a lot of the underclassmen all season. The team hasn’t been nearly as motivated to practice because the seniors will get playing time regardless- even though they definitely don’t deserve it. Our championship game is tonight and our team is talented enough that we’ve made it this far, but I am not feeling too optimistic since we’re playing a really competitive school. I have put in the work, but our leaders haven’t and some of the underclassmen that have been following in their steps. I’ll report back tomorrow and let you guys know what happens!
